Valuations
If you ever need to make an insurance claim for jewellery and related items, you might discover you’re under-insured because you’ve been unaware of the real value of the items.
Goldstraw Goldsmiths offers a professional insurance valuation service. We provide a drop-off service. You can leave the items with us for valuation. The turnaround time for this service is usually around seven working days.

Insurance claims
Whatever your problems, our staff are well versed in dealing sympathetically with your insurance claim. Acting on your behalf with your insurers or brokers, we negotiate the best possible settlement. We’re often required to source appropriate replacements. For example, a matching Victorian cut diamond in a vintage piece instead of a modern cut suggested by the insurer but not a like-for-like stone.
Polishing and refinishing

Our polishing and refinishing process includes:

Initial check - to ensure all settings are secure, clasps are in good order and delicate stones are protected.

Polishing - polishing wheels, mops and compounds, used by experienced hands, means your jewellery is carefully buffed to remove surface scratches & imperfections.

Ultrasonic cleaning - to clean off any polishing compound residue, ready for customer collection.

Rhodium plating - rhodium replating gives your white gold jewellery a mirror-shine finish.
